This subject….it’s hard to define. What makes a place a “hidden gem”, quote on quote? Sometimes they have been around forever and the locals love it. Sometimes they are new and just haven’t had the recognition they deserve. Or they can have the best dang food you’ve ever put in your dang mouth. Sometimes they are LITERALLY HIDDEN down that street you never go down. Whether they be new, old, unique or unheard of, let’s check out some of the best places today.

I ate breakfast at Gailey’s regularly starting in 1978. 1 egg, 2 strips of bacon, toast and cup of coffee $1.25. Joe had his pharmacy in the back at a little window. Beulah watched the cafe and Eileen was the cook. If you sat at the bar she was cooking directly in front of you. It was one of a kind and probably didn’t seat 25 at the time.
I love
Habaneros
Classic Rock
Chicken Salad Chick
Cedars
Canton Inn
UNBELIEVABLE 😮😮 THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IS PURPLE BURRITO ON CAMPBELL. CANT BELIEVE YOU MISSED THIS PLACE. PUTS THE OTHERS TO SHAME😮😮
My favorite in Springfield is Corner 21 on 1329 E. Sunshine. Its Chinese cuisine is unique and the best I have tasted in a city full of Chinese restaurants. It is a small restaurant with almost no decor or atmosphere — just huge portions of Chinese food taken to another level. The prices are quite reasonable when one considers each order makes for two meals easily.
Love Pizza House!
