  1. Yep…if you want mayhem, just sit two Springfieldians down and get ’em talking about food. 😅

Gotta do Mexican Villa. And not just because it’s one of the few old-school Tex-Mex joints, but for the old-skool vibe and the history.

Hemingway’s. Most people who go to Bass Pro don’t know that there’s a top-shelf game restaurant in there.

Gotta hit some Vietnamese and Korean joints, too. Unfortunately, my fave Korean ALL YOU CAN EAT…sigh…buffet closed years ago. I seem to recall that that made the front page of the paper there.

There’s also a more traditional Japanese place that does the huge sushi boats…name escapes me, but it’s in one of the strips over by Cox South.

Alternately, you could just as easily call ALL restaurants in Springfield “hidden gems”. For example, one wouldn’t tend to say that George’s over on Glenstone is a hidden gem…but George’s at 3 AM? Dinner and a (possible) show! Real cops, real drunks, real weird vibes…all while you nosh on top-shelf drunk food delights. 😂 Doesn’t make sense to a lot of people outside of Greene County, but ALL of Springfield’s restaurants have that built-in weird factor. It’s unique and my partner and I love every bit of it.
